Chapter 761: Lacking in Love, or Too Much of It?

Feng Tianlan hummed her assent softly. “I witnessed an attempt on his life in Xi Yuan Nation. I saved him, but he recognized me.”

“He Lian knows your true identity?” Xi Lin raised her eyes and looked at Feng Tianlan before looking down again and fiddling with the hems of her sleeves. Indeed, He Lian had…

Her thoughts trailed off. After all, this matter had nothing to do with her.

“In the past, I created your cultivation methods based on the individual strength of your spiritual force. I used them by accident in front of him and was recognized right away,” Feng Tianlan said. At that point in time, she hadn’t given the matter much thought and had simply assumed that using the Wind, Flower, Snow and Moon technique was most appropriate.

Xi Lin smiled faintly. They were indeed no match for He Lian. Compared to him, her Imperial Brother was sorely lacking. Was it because he hadn’t received enough love, or was it because he had received too much of it? No one would ever know.

However, if it was possible, she still hoped that her Imperial Brother would get a chance to acknowledge Dai’er. But it was unlikely the opportunity would ever come.

After Xi Lin left, Feng Tianlan was in no mood to cultivate. She sat by the window in a daze and recalled all the random memories from her previous life. Ever since her death, Xi Jin’s spiritual force had not risen throughout the three years…

Si Mobai returned to the room when he was done with his errands and saw Feng Tianlan sitting in front of the window with her arms resting on the ledge and her hand supporting the side of her face. She seemed troubled as she stared out of the window. She hadn’t even realized that he had returned.

“What’s wrong?” Si Mobai walked over to where she was, and, standing behind her, he reached his hand out to stroke her smooth hair.

Feng Tianlan looked up at him before leaning against his body. “Shen Yunya and Sister Lin dropped by earlier.”

“What did they say?” he asked.

“Xi Jin must have said something to her to arouse her suspicions. She wanted to find out about something, but Sister Lin gave her a tight slap. She’s probably still fuming at Sister Lin because of that now.” Feng Tianlan was very worried about her. After all, Shen Yunya could be very calculating at times.

Si Mobai consoled her gently. “Don’t worry about it too much. She’s the princess of a nation while the Shen Family, as an aristocratic family, are subjects of the royal family. She won’t dare harm her.”

Feng Tianlan agreed softly before looking up and saying with a smile, “Since you’re here, I’ll be at ease in doing my promotional meditation. Once I begin, it may take me until April 12th to finish.”

Originally, the isolated meditation required to rise from Dark Supreme to Earth Supreme depended on the level of a person’s comprehension ability. Someone whose mind was sharp would be promoted very quickly. Those with duller minds failed.

If she went into isolation in the Pill Scroll Realm, two hours in the outside world would translate into an entire day there. As a result, the duration of her isolation would be no more than two or three days in the outside world, and she would likely be able to make it in time for April 12th.

Even if she couldn’t, she knew that Mobai would help her.

Si Mobai’s face lit up with pride. “I’ll guard you personally. Be at ease and focus on your cultivation.”

Lan’er had taken less than six months to rise to Dark Supreme, and now she was about to rise yet again to Earth Supreme. The speed of her ascension was indeed admirable.

Once Feng Tianlan went into isolation, Si Mobai put all his affairs on hold. Refusing to leave for even a moment, he guarded her throughout. Even when it came to mealtimes, he had the servants leave the food by the door in order to prevent anyone from getting too close.

As for Shen Yunya, who had gotten slapped, she returned home full of resentment. When she looked at her cheek in the bronze mirror, she could see red finger marks swelling on her face, and she bit her lower lip in anger.

Yuan Fangfei heard that Shen Yunya had returned cupping her face in her hand, and rushed over hurriedly. “Ya’er, what happened?”

Shen Yunya looked at her swollen red cheek and retrieved a bottle of ointment. Enduring the pain, she gently applied the cream to her face. “I was slapped in the face by Princess Zhaoyang.”

“Aren’t you supposed to be good friends? Why did she hit you?” Yuan Fangfei looked at the mark, an outline of five fingers on Shen Yunya’s face, and said achingly, “Why won’t you approve of her marrying your brother? Once she’s married into the family, regardless of whether she’s a princess or not, she’ll still have to lower her head as a daughter-in-law.”
