Chapter 1089: Shen QIngdai’s Corpse

Just as she was about to head out, a pair of arms wrapped around her waist. She raised her head and looked at Si Mobai, pursing her lips without saying a word. She was worried about Xi Jin, but she didn’t want to break Mobai’s heart at the same time.

“I will take you there. It will be faster.” After saying this, Si Mobai lifted her at the waist and chased after Xi Jin with great speed.

The empress watched everything that had happened in the courtyard from inside the house. Then, her eyes rolled back and she fainted, unable to take it anymore.

“My empress!” The Dongshu Emperor held her in his arms immediately. He called for the royal physician. Chaos arose in the shabby Nanyuan once again.

Xi Jin headed straight for the Shen Manor. He ran towards Shen Yunya’s room and lifted her blanket. He felt a slight chill. His eyes turned cold as he stared at her bed. Then, he gained access to the secret compartment through the switch that she mentioned. After seeing a ladder heading downwards, he stepped inside the compartment.

Once he was inside the compartment, the cold intensified. This dungeon wasn’t huge. He found himself in an icehouse after walking a two-meter distance. The cold further intensified.

Xi Jin walked forward slowly. The icehouse was very small. It was only two feet wide and one foot tall. The whole place was covered in ice. When he saw the corpse on the cold ice, he was stunned.

Xi Jin stared at the frozen body that was covered in hoarfrost. He called out in a choked voice, “Dai’er…”

He walked into the room and knelt in front of the dead body. He dusted the hoarfrost off the body’s left shoulder. An obvious red mark could be seen on that white collarbone. That was her birthmark. He remembered seeing this red dot when he accidentally pulled at her shirt once.

Xi Jin’s gaze fell upon the face of the corpse. Her eyes sockets were empty and her face was covered in hoarfrost. Her kneecaps were empty voids as well. A lot of her flesh was removed from her body…

“Dai’er…” Xi Jin hugged the corpse tightly as if he were trying to become one with her. His tears were falling onto the corpse one drop after another, melting the thick layer of hoarfrost.

He was sorry. He was really sorry. It was all his fault. He shouldn’t have met her. He shouldn’t have treated her well. He shouldn’t have liked her. He shouldn’t have…stayed alive!

All these regrets caused him to have an emotional and mental breakdown right then and there in the icehouse.

Si Mobai followed Xi Jin’s aura into Shen Yunya’s room with Feng Tianlan. They looked at the secret compartment under her bed, then stared at each other. They entered the dungeon, cold air blowing at their faces.

They saw the small icehouse and the corpse. However, they couldn’t find Xi Jin anywhere in this small dungeon.

“His aura is still around. It seems that he just left,” Si Mobai said with a frown. What he didn’t say was that his aura was stronger in here than it was on the outside. He couldn’t have left through the entrance. However, this place didn’t seem to have an exit either. Did Xi Jin disappear into thin air?

Feng Tianlan looked at the hoarfrost covering the corpse and saw handprints on it. A part of the corpse was actually frozen. She seemed able to picture Xi Jin hugging the corpse while crying.

“Let’s go look for him,” Feng Tianlan said. She didn’t feel strange staring at her own corpse. She just felt endless sorrow. No one had expected that the six of them who were once so close would turn out that way.

Once again, she learned that fate was unpredictable. Perhaps one could never go against God’s will. She felt extremely helpless.

Si Mobai was hugging her tightly while he accompanied her quietly. He felt extremely sorry that she had to go through all this pain.
